Prepare for Your Visit
To allow us to deliver the best possible care and service, there are a few steps you will need to complete prior to your procedure.
These requirements are designed to ensure your health and safety. Failure to comply with all requirements may result in cancellation of your procedure.
Please select the appropriate tab below based on your procedure type and carefully read all instructions.

This person will need to sign off that they are your responsible party (this also applies if you are taking a medivan service). You may choose to use paid transport (e.g. Uber, Lyft, or a taxi) but you will need a responsible adult to accompany you and take medical responsibility for you.
- If you are having IV sedation with your surgery, you must have a responsible individual who is at least 18 years old prepared to supervise you for the next 24 hours after your procedure.
If you become ill with the flu, a cold, an infection, a fever, or any other medical problem, or will be taking antibiotics, before or on the day of your surgery, contact the surgery center immediately by calling 952-841-2345.

Prior to the injection
TO DOs
If you are having Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) sedation, a pre-operative history and physical within 30 days of the procedure is needed. In some cases, this pre-operative exam needs to be done on a different day before the injection while in other cases it may be done at the surgery center just before your injection. This should be clarified by your provider at the clinic appointment when the injection is ordered.
- If it was not clarified, please call the surgery center at 952-841-2345.
- All pre-operative history and physicals that are done in advance should be faxed to:
-
- Burnsville Surgery Center at 952-222-1817
- Twin Cities Surgery Center at 952-856-2644
-
If you are having oral sedation (Valium/Diazepam) or no sedation – You do NOT require a pre-operative history and physical.
In some cases, you will be asked to wash daily for three days before your surgery with an antibacterial soap, such as Hibiclens, which can be purchased at most pharmacies without a prescription. Your provider will instruct you if this will be necessary.
Organize a ride home
- For most injection procedures, you will need to have a responsible adult drive you home afterward. Your provider should clarify transportation requirements when ordering the injection.
- If transportation requirements were not explained at your appointment, please call the surgery center at 952-841-2345.
- If you are not receiving IV/MAC sedation for your injection, you may choose a transportation option that is most convenient to you for your ride home. This could be a friend or relative, or a paid transport service, such as a taxi, Uber, Lyft, etc.
- If you are receiving IV/MAC sedation for your injection, you must arrange to have a responsible driver who is at least 18 years old and willing to take medical responsibility for you on the drive home. This can be done by a family member, friend, or a paid medical transport van.
- Non-medical, paid transport, such as taxis, Uber, Lyft, etc., are NOT acceptable options for your ride home if you are receiving IV/MAC sedation.
- If your injection does require a driver, and you come to the surgery center without one, we will have to reschedule your procedure.
- Occasionally, an injection will not require you to organize a ride home. If this is the case, you will be notified prior to your procedure date.
You must have a responsible individual who is at least 18 years old prepared to supervise you for the next 24 hours after your procedure if you are receiving MAC/IV sedation.
If you are having MAC sedation, do not eat or drink ANYTHING (including clear liquids) for 8 hours before your procedure. This includes medications, gum, mints, hard candy, etc.
If you are having oral sedation (Valium/Diazepam), we DO recommend eating something prior to your injection.
Do NOT consume alcohol or any form of tobacco within 24 hours of your procedure.
Failure to follow these instructions may result in cancellation of your procedure.
If there are any changes in your physical condition, such as a cold, fever or respiratory problems please notify the Surgery Center immediately by calling 952-841-2345.
